5 or 6 days Mount Kenya Climbing It’s a National park and lies at the altitude of about 3000m to5200m. It has glaciers, tarns and peaks. Technical climbers also enjoy to climb at the peaks of Nelion and Batian and normal hikers upto Lenana. There are 3 main routes to the summit, Sirimon, Narumoru and chogoria. Each route has huts or bandas for accommodation. A guide and porter accompanies each hiker. One can use one route up and one route down. An extra day is possible to do the peak circuit. down Chogoria routes Day 2 – Transfer to Sirimon gate to start your 9km hike to old Moses (Judimere's camp - 3300m) for dinner and overnight. Day 3 - Hike 18km from old Moses to Shimptons camp (4200m) for dinner and overnight. Day 4 – It's a long day, wake up 2am to attempt point Lenana, be at the summit at 6 am. Walk down via Chogoria route, walk down upto meru Mt. Kenya bandas for dinner and overnight. Day 5– It's a long walk, about 30kms
to Chogoria gate to catch your transport back to Nairobi. |
